Hello everyone,
I've been an owner of a Swiftpoint-Z for a few years now, and despite really liking its design and concept, I've had problems with its mouse wheel from the very beginning (Almost no effecitve scrolling when wheeling really fast, and generally a very erratic feel). It was kind of a bummer, but I somehow managed to get by so far. However, since
the issue really started annoying me lately, I began digging a little bit into it. After stumbling across this forum, the main advice when facing bad behaviour from any of the mouse's controllers seemed to be to clean it out. Sounds reasonable, so I gave it a try. With no significant effect however.
A few weeks later I came to think that maybe I didn't clean it properly enough. So, on a second attempt - taking it apart a little bit more than before - I noticed that the mouse wheel had quite a bit of leeway when sitting in its controller (or whatever it's called :-P ). So I decided trying to somehow get rid of that leeway in addition to cleaning it out a second time. Using a tiny bit of that wooly stuff from a Q-Tip (you have to soften it up a little first) seemed like it might do the trick. After a few attempts, I managed to put it all together in a way that eliminated the leeway. And lo and behold, the mouse wheel works perfectly fine now! I can't move it crazy fast anymore since there is good amount more resistance to it now (I actually prefer it that way), but no more erratic behaviour when scrolling.
I need to add however, that the middle mouse button is quite a bit harder to use now. So in a fast paced gaming scenario, relying on split second timing, that might terminate its usability. For me however, it's a negligible trade off since I'm constantly using the mouse wheel and rarely the middle button. Also, I will admit that I'm not a 100% sure if this doesn't at least in part also result from having cleaned a few nooks and crannys, that didn't get any treatment on my first attempt. However, as far as I could tell, there wasn't all that much dirt left to begin with. So I'm pretty confident that my mouse wheel issues - at least in part - also must have had to do with the leeway I noticed and managed to get rid of.
Just wanted to add this to this forum, since there seem to be at least a few other people out there having problems with the mouse wheel and I didn't find any other solution myself publicly available yet. If cleaning it out doesn't help, maybe this helps solving the issue.
Cheers
