Getting connected to your Z3
The Z3 supports 3 connection types:
- SwiftLink: Recommended for best wireless performance.
- Our proprietary 2.4GHz protocol which uses the included SwiftLink USB receiver.
- Z3 can pair with up to two SwiftLink Receivers, but only one connection can be active at a time.
- USB: If you don't mind cables, or do mind batteries
- Via the included USB-C to USB-A cable, or any third-party USB C data cable.
- BTLE: For maximum portability or connecting with devices that don't have USB ports.
- Requires Bluetooth 4.0+ on host PC/device.
- Z3 can pair with up to three devices via BTLE, but only one connection can be active at a time.
- Over BTLE polling rates are limited to 133Hz (Unless the experimental "BTLE Override" option is enabled in the X1 Control Panel).
Creating a SwiftLink or Bluetooth Pairing:
Out of the box, your Z3 is
already paired with it's included SwiftLink Receiver, so there will be
no action needed other than to plug the receiver into your PC, and your
Z3 (once turned on) will re-connect automatically.
But if you want to pair your Z3 over Bluetooth, with a second SwiftLink Receiver, or need to recreate the pairing to your included receiver, follow the steps below.
- Prepare the device you are pairing your mouse to.
- SwiftLink:
- Ensure your SwiftLink Receiver is plugged in.
- If your SwiftLink Receiver is currently paired to another mouse, clear its pairing using the X1 Control Panel (see Creating SwiftLink pairings via the X1 Control Panel below).
- Bluetooth:
- Ensure the Bluetooth is enabled.
- Press the pairing button on the base of your mouse (picture below)

- This will show the connection menu on your mouses OLED display, and change the color of the RGB logo to indicate the current selection.
- Tap the pairing button again to change the current selection (filled white circle).
- Bluetooth/SwiftLink - White RGB Logo
- Used to automatically connect to nearby paired SwiftLink or Bluetooth devices. But it cannot be used to create a new pairing.
- Bluetooth - Blue RGB logo
- Press and hold the pairing button to begin Bluetooth pairing. Complete the pairing via the host PC/device.
- SwiftLink - Green RGB Logo
- Press and hold the pairing button to attempt a SwiftLink pairing. If an unclaimed receiver is available nearby, it will connect immediately.
- If the pairing attempt fails, check that your SwiftLink Receiver does not already have a pairing via the X1 Control Panel. If it does, clear it and retry the pairing.
After
completing this step, you should receive a "Pairing success" prompt to
indicate you have successfully restored the pairing.
Creating SwiftLink pairings via the X1 Control Panel:
You
can also follow the steps in the X1 Control Panel, first by plugging in
your Z3 via USB-C, in which it should connect automatically and display
under "Manage Devices" in Expert Mode.
From here you can clear any existing pairings from your SwiftLink Receiver, then select a slot on your Z3 to save the pairing to.
Switching Between Pairings:
If your mouse is paired with multiple devices nearby and did not connect to the one you wanted automatically. You can switch to another pairing using the pairing button on the base of the mouse.
- Tap the pairing button until the connection type you want is selected on the OLED.
- If there are multiple paired devices of this type nearby. Use the scroll wheel to select the specific pairing slot you want to connect to.
- Left Click, or put the mouse back down on your desk to confirm your selection.
