Scrolling sensitivty on macOS/Linux is too high

Under normal circumstances the scrolling speed non-Windows OS's should not be different from any other mouse. However, there is one scenario which will cause it to increase drastically.
Namely if your mouse is connected to Windows then switches to another OS without loosing power. For example if you are using Bootcamp on macOS, or VM's.

This problem can occur with any mouse which supports Microsofts "Enhanced Wheel Support", since once they connect to Windows this feature will remain active on the mouse until it looses power, and other OS's are not setup to interpret the modified scroll inputs it enables.

When this problem occurs it can be addressed by simply unplugging and re-connecting your mouse. If you switch OS's frequently one way to make this a bit quicker and avoid wear on your USB port would be to use a USB hub or extension which includes a power switch.
