Something Went Wrong error on Swiftpoint Driver launch.

Summary

If the Swiftpoint Driver is throwing a "Something Went Wrong" error every time you open it, and the UI is displayed incorrectly (as shown in the image below). There could either be a problem with one of the drivers configuration files, or the driver has been prevented from accessing the "Documents/Swiftpoint Settings" folder; where it stores its mappings files.

Removing corrupt configuration files

In most cases this issue can be resolved by deleting the user.config files. Which can be found in the directory below:

      C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\SwiftpointDriver\SwiftpointDriver.exe_Url_qzdtbxss3gu1qjnvm500zujevrmyo5ip

You can paste the line above into your explorer search bar and press 'enter' to go directly to this folder.

Inside this directory you will find folders for each of the different version of the Swiftpoint Driver you have installed. Simply delete all of these folders then exit and re-launch the Swiftpoint Driver and the issue should be resolved.
Deleting these folders will not effect your custom profiles, so they should still be available once you re-launch the driver. However if your profiles were lost you can import a backup of them from your "Documents/Swiftpoint Settings" folder.
You may need to use task manager to exit the Swiftpoint Driver before re-launching it, as this error can prevent you from exiting the driver via the system tray.

Windows 7 compatibility mode

If removing the user.config file doesn't help try running the Swiftpoint Driver in Windows 7 compatibility mode.

Controlled Folder Access (Windows 10)

If removing the user.config files did not resolve the issue and you are using Windows 10, you may have the "Controlled folder access" security setting enabled. With this enabled the Swiftpoint Driver will be denied access to your documents folder by default.

To check if you have this enabled, open the start menu and type "Controlled folder access", it should show you the following result. Click on this to open its settings, where you can see if it is enabled.

If it is enabled you can either disable it, which we don't recommend unless you know why it was enabled in the first place. Or you can allow the Swiftpoint Driver through the block by selecting "Allow an app through Controlled folder access", as shown below.

On the next screen just press "Add an allowed app", then "Recently blocked app" where you should see the Swiftpoint Driver. Click on the + symbol next to it to add it to the exceptions list.

With this done you can now close all of the security settings windows, then exit the Swiftpoint Driver and re-launch it. You may need to use task manager to do this, as this error can also disable the right click menu in the system tray.

If the issue persists

If neither of these solutions resolved the issue, please submit a ticket to support and attach the Swiftpoint Drivers log file. Which can be found in the directory below.

      C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\SwiftpointDriver\
